Banana is one of my favorite fruits, even better I loved it when it is deep fry. Most Asian stores have tempura batter mix for frying bananas. However, if you live in the middle of almost nowhere and the nearest Asian store is 1.5 hours aways, you can still make fry bananas.
1 cup all purpose flour
2tsp baking powder
Peel your bananas and sliced them. I like to slice mine in coin shape about 1/2 centimeters thick.
In a pot, pour your oil and heat it on a medium temperature. If your oven has those numbers on the knobs, then I would go with a 5. While your oil is heating prepared your batter.
In a bowl mix your flour and water into a nice consistency. One trick I like to use to know if a batter I’m making without measurement has a nice consistency or not, is to take a spoon of the batter and about 5-6 inches high just pour it back in. The batter runs like water, you need more dry ingredients if it’s coming down in blobs or not at all you need more wet ingredients. So, at a nice pace just generously add and mix.
After mixing the flour and water, add in your baking powder and you when you mix it you should see these little tiny air bubbles, it just means that the baking powder is activated. By the time you’re done mixing the batter the oil should be ready.
Dipped your bananas into in the batter and fry them. Once it is golden brown take them out and drain them. If you like it extra sweet sprinkle some sugar. I sprinkle mine with a bit of sugar since my friends like it extra sweet.
If you have leftovers you can just reheat them over low heat on a nonstick pan.
