A few weeks ago, I shared about my battle with irritant contact dermatitis. Since then, my skin has been doing much better. After sharing that post, I thought about sharing some of my favorite skincare products of all time. I started using skincare products since I was fifteen years old and I have been through a journey, if I had only kept a diary, I would probably be a best selling author by now. I have went from low retail brands to high retail bands. Currently, I’m using CeraVe products along with one other product from a different brand, in which I will be sharing below. It amazes me to see how much low retail brands, like the ones you see at Walmart, has grown over these past few years. They are now just as good or perhaps even better than some of these brands you would see at high retail stores. Today, though, I will be sharing affordable products for college students or those that do not want to spend a fortune, hence the title.
CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser
This product was suggested to me by my dermatologist after my first breakout of dermatitis. I love this cleanser; it is gel or has that gel and slimy texture, which some people do not like. However, I do not have a problem with the texture. Additionally, dermatitis causes my skin to be dehydrated. So my skin was quenching for thirst that I did not want to step out when I was in the shower and just let the water gently fall on my face. However, using this cleanser gave my skin a little bit of moisture. The quantity of one bottle is good as well. I started my first bottle back in late May or early June of 2020, and about a month and a half ago, I started on my second bottle.

CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion
Again, this product was recommended by my dermatologist. This lotion saved my skin for these past months as it helped my skin to stay hydrated. However, as time went on, I noticed the small changes and progress happening to my skin. You can apply this as much as you need. However, I find that using this once in the morning lasts through the end of the day. I work seven hours and have to wear a face mask, but this lotion helped my skin to stay hydrated and create a barrier so that no irritation was caused by wearing a face mask. Before I switched over to this product, I would have to carry a small bottle of moisturizing lotion to reapply whenever I get the chance to work because my former moisturizer was not giving me enough moisture and protection.

CeraVe Ultra-Light Moisturizing Face Lotion with SPF 30
Do not forget your sunscreen! I know that there are foundation products, BB cream, that come with SPF protection. I used to wear them in the past, but sometimes the formula was a bit too thick, or the color was just a bit off. So, I prefer sunscreen with no tint. I love this lotion. It has SPF, and it feels very light, as if I am wearing another thin layer of lotion. It comes in a small pumping tube that I like because sometimes I like to pump a little product directly on my skin instead of my fingertips.
Price Range: $14-$16

CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion
Honestly, I do not know why I bought this when I could have used my daily moisturizer during the night time, but I did buy it, and it was a good product. Compared to the daily moisturizer, this product dried a bit quicker, which was a plus for me. Usually, if the products take a bit of time to dry and seep into my skin, I will stay up for an extra 20-30 minutes. However, this PM lotion’s drying process is pretty quick, so I did not have to stay up extra long, especially after a long day at work. I also do like the fact the product lasts throughout the night after all the tossing and turnings. So, if you do want to look for a nighttime moisturizer that leaves your skin feeling nice, soft, and hydrated, this will be a good choice.

Neutrogena On-the-Spot Acne Treatment
This acne treatment is my go-to product when I wake up with a pimple. Usually, within a few days, the pimple goes away. Moreover, this is the only skincare treatment that I have continuously used and bought ever since I got interested in skincare. It is a tiny tube, and it lasts forever. So, if you are like me, only get pimples like 2-4 times a year. Then it is a good idea to check the expiration date or keep up with the time of when you purchased and opened the product before using it. If you cannot remember the last time you used any makeup or skincare products or bought them, then it is a good time to toss them out and get new ones.

Cicaplast Baume B5 Soothing Repairing Balm
About two weeks ago, I switched out my CeraVe PM moisturizer to this repairing balm. In all honesty, the CeraVe PM Facial moisturizing lotion was not strong enough to healed and repaired my skin barrier. So, I had to do some research, and this repairing balm was one of the results. I read reviews on ULTA and Target, many people have many mixed reviews, but I decided to buy it and see how it works. I got mine at my local Target store, and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. Two nights later, I noticed the immense difference in my skin. It comes in a small tube and has this very thick and almost pasty texture. It also has a white pigment, all of which many people did not like. Some reviews said that the white pigment left them looking pale or ghostly, while some did not like the pasty-like texture making it complicated for them to apply. However, the problem is that the consistency makes it dry quicker, so you must quickly apply it to the areas that need to go on. I do not have a problem applying this on my face because I usually finish applying on one side first and then the other side. I also do not have a problem with the white pigment. Using the right amount will my skin color as it is. This product also stays on amazing throughout the night and will leave your skin feeling hydrated and soft the following morning, so those looking for a product that does something similar. Then this is a good option.

Garnier SkinActive Moisture Rescue Face Moisturizer
This is a gel moisturizer that comes in either green or pink. The green moisturizer’s formula is for normal/combo skin while the pink formula is for dry skin. I have used both before. For example, I would buy the green one if the pink was out of stock. According to my memories, this moisturizer has a thick formula, and it feels so nice and cool on my skin, especially during the summer. The downside is that it comes in a cute little jar, so depending on how often you used it, it typically lasts from 2-3 months. I used to use this product twice daily, but a little goes a long way, so one jar lasted me 2.5 months.

Garnier Sensitive Skin Makeup Removing Lotion Cleanser
After Olay change the formula to one of their facial cleansers, I bought this one from Garnier because I started to have breakouts using the new Olay formula cleansers. Luckily, this Garnier cleanser cleared my tiny pimples in a week. I stick to this cleanser for probably around four years until I somehow decided that it was time for me to explore the expensive and materialistic world of skincare products from Sephora, Ulta, and Korean brands like Tony Moly and Holika Holika. Of course, we all know that was a wrong move, but we all make mistakes and learn from them. Nowadays, it is hard for me to find this product, specifically at retail stores. Still, I know that I sometimes would see this at Walmart, and it looks like other retailers also carry it according to their online inventory.
Price Range: $11-$12
Where: Walmart and Amazon
This brings me to the end of my list; now, of course, you should always use whatever products work best for your skin. However, sometimes you may need to do a little bit of research and reached out to professionals when you start to have complications. Skin is the largest organ of our body. It keeps our body hydrated and helps to protect us from infections or any other microbes. So we should treat our skin well. Therefore, when you plan to use or buy a new product, it is always best to try a tiny sample on a small area for any side effects. Again, these are all products that I am currently using or have used, which I think are good options.
